How We Can Ensure Net Zero-Emission Goal by 2050

How We Can Ensure Net Zero-Emission Goal by 2050

The role of transport in carbon emission was the focus area at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland. Leaders and stakeholders from different nations, private and public sectors, and NGOs zeroed in on one vital issue- the role of the transport sector as one of the three sources of carbon emission. It’s the only sector that is still increasing in greenhouse gas footprint. In 2020, the global transport domain was responsible for approximately 7.3 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

Nations, businesses, automobile industries and stakeholders from around the world have signed a declaration of commitments to achieve the complete vehicle sales being zero-emission by 2040 or earlier.

In this article, we are going to discuss the ways to speed up this transition process-

Effective solution for the cities that experience the worst climate pollution:

India accounts for 22 of the 30 most polluted cities in the world. The transport sector is one of the critical sectors that need to focus more on selling electric vehicles. In India, the majority of people depend on scooters and bikes for daily commute. Automobile manufacturers should offer electric scooters for delivery at a reasonable price so that people can easily afford them. Electric vehicles will pave the way to achieving zero emissions for India.

Embrace the new energy resource:

The advanced battery technology enables the automobile industry to expand the range of vehicles while reducing the costly materials required for production. It will lead the world towards an all-electrical, carbon-neutral future. Large automobile sharks are doing research on utilizing the materials coming out of batteries and using them in the manufacturing process to streamline a circular economy.

Develop carbon-free cities:

The transportation industry should aim to achieve a zero future. That means zero-emission vehicles. It means getting around in new ways. The automobile industry should sell more electric scooters for delivery. The electric vehicle can create the infrastructure that will allow people to move carbon-free.

Achieve optimal efficiency with the thoughtful partnership:

It’s just not about the zero-carbon vehicle, it also includes zero-net companies. To achieve that, all ecosystem players should work hand in hand. The mobility businesses, digital solutions and financial sector should work under one umbrella to ensure end-to-end zero-carbon mobility in the future.

Businesses have already started investing in creating a sustainable mobility ecosystem like electric scooters, buses, and vans that can be manufactured in micro-factories. The good thing is that micro-factories can be placed all over the world at a reasonable cost.

Creating a public charging infrastructure:

One of the major bottlenecks in accelerating the journey to net-zero transportation is the availability of public charging infrastructure. Government and businesses should work together to set up more public charging infrastructure across the nations.

Developing a zero-emission technology for shipping and aviation domains:

Among transportation sectors, shipping holds the third position as a major CHG emissions contributor. To reduce emissions from the shipping industry, the government should need to come up with new strategies, improved operations and technology-based solutions like hull air lubrication, wind-assisted propulsions, etc.

So, now you might have realized that working together with the mobility sector, financial businesses, smart digital technology and government support, we can achieve zero-emission within 2050.
