How Zypp is Contributing to Achieving the Zero Carbon Emission Goal?

Zypp Electric is one of the electric vehicle (EV) generation’s unsung heroes. As a last-mile delivery service, its IoT-powered EVs deliver daily necessities such as vegetables, medicines, dairy, and groceries. Zypp Electric, like most other delivery and logistics companies, uses an asset-light model and an EV-as-a-Service platform, with the goal of making last-mile logistics sustainable and emission-free. With 10 hubs across India, over 7,000 EVs deployed, 40,000 deliveries per day across six cities, and 25+ merchants served, this young startup’s list of accomplishments is impressive. By 2025, e-commerce is expected to grow from USD 30 billion to USD 150 billion. The growing consumer base of online shoppers will significantly contribute to market growth. This uptick is expected to boost demand for last-mile delivery. According to reports, Flipkart plans to replace 40% of its delivery fleet very soon. By 2025, Amazon India’s delivery fleet is expected to include nearly 10,000 EVs. The Delhi government’s most recent policy mandate directs logistics and aggregators to go 100 per cent electric by 2025.

With many e-retailers, both large and small, implementing eco-friendly and sustainable technologies based on electric mobility, this Gurugram-based startup is capitalising on the expanding opportunities in the last-mile e-commerce delivery market. With notable clients such as Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, PharmEasy, Delhivery, Swiggy, Zomato, Zepto, and Blinkit already on board, it is collaborating with OEM partners such as Hero Electric and Sun Mobility to purchase, rent, and lease vehicles specifically designed for last-mile delivery. With Zypp aggressively engaged in IoT, EV data, battery, and delivery, the company is considering fleet management technology, cross-utilisation technology, charging infrastructure creation, and warehousing technology. The startup is looking to the future of logistics, drone deliveries, and autonomous deliveries with blockchain.

Features offered by Zypp

Zypp offers up to 20% savings on customer delivery through API integration and live AI-enabled chat support for customers and delivery executives. It provides an advanced dashboard for order placement and tracking, 99 per cent on-time SLAs, in-depth analytics, and a live feed of customer deliveries. Furthermore, as a potential drone delivery competitor, it is leveraging technology supported by ML-enabled invoice and logo reading, as well as reading customer location for accurate delivery. There will be an entry into autonomous deliveries, followed by AI-enabled rider route optimization, tracking delivery/hour to drive hourly utilisation, and COD handling and management. Aside from that, it provides a feature for reading rider driving behaviour, as well as a real-time highly accurate location of delivery personnel, resulting in the creation of a rider credit score. There is prompt assistance with battery charge/swap, RRT breakdown assistance, and bike maintenance support. Zypp also monitors vehicle idle time, remote immobilisation, and geo-fencing, and generates vehicle life data that is shared with OEMs.

Given that going electric is the way forward for logistics companies, Zypp Electric’s future looks promising. Zypp is well-positioned to become India’s largest EV logistics tech company, with a USD 30 million expansion plan.

Zypp partnership with Zepto to achieve zero carbon emission goal

Zypp Electric has partnered with Zepto, one of India’s fastest-growing e-grocery businesses, to make delivery carbon-neutral. The alliance currently allows for more than 20,000 deliveries per day in Delhi and will expand to Bangalore and Mumbai within the next four months, with a fleet of more than 1500 EV+Drivers. Zypp, which currently serves 50 Zepto hubs in Delhi-NCR, plans to double its fleet and service areas nationwide over the next 12 months in order to grow its relationship by a factor of ten. Zypp Electric intends to work toward 100% electric last-mile logistics in the country by collaborating with quick-commerce, food delivery, and other business-related platforms and outlets. One example of their dedication to their goal is their strategic partnerships with numerous logistics and e-commerce companies, which have helped to reduce 17 million kilogrammes of carbon emissions in the last 24 months.

Zypp Electric intends to deploy over 1.5 lakh scooters by 2023 in response to rising demand. The company now has a fleet of over 5,000 e-scooters in operation. In less than five years, the company has partnered with market giants such as Zomato, Swiggy, Big Basket, Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, PharmEasy, Jio Mart, Delhivery, and Spencers to execute low-cost and sustainable deliveries, and has become the go-to partner for everything last-mile logistics.

“As pioneers and one of the fastest-growing players in the quick-commerce segment, we are constantly striving to achieve sustainable and long-term impact. This is true not only for our 10-minute delivery guarantee but also for how we plan our last mile. Our collaboration with Zypp, as well as the impact we’ve had thus far, is evidence of our efforts in this direction. “As we grow, our focus will be on continuous carbon footprint reduction across our operations,” said Vinay Dahani, Chief Operating Officer at Zepto.
